TOPSoccer Program

The Outreach Program for Soccer (TOPSoccer), is designed to meet the needs of players with special abilities. TOPSoccer is not geared towards any specific type of disability. There are varied types and levels of participation to meet the needs of any child or adult that wishes to participate. The Washington Timbers TOPSoccer program was established to promote the game of soccer within a unique segment of our club's community. The program consists of fun games and activities each day with at least 30 minutes of match play at the end. The program enables players 4 years of age and up, both male and female, with physical and/or cognitive disabilities to play the World's Game!

Our primary goal is to enable players with disabilities to develop their physical fitness, self-esteem, and friendships through the joy and excitement of playing soccer. Each session is geared towards fun and development rather than competition. Athletes are placed on teams according to ability and NOT BY AGE.

The CW Kickers have approximately 35 players and 11 Buddies (Helpers) who enable theTOPSoccer players to participate. The buddies create a safe environment for the success of the players. They can be a soccer player, student, adult, sibling or caregiver. One practice and one game take place each week at the JDZ field in Camas. The season is approximately 8 weeks long, including 8 games, and will run September 10 through October 29, 2015. We play games on Monday and practiced on Thursdays, 5:30-6:30pm. Games are played against typical recreation (Camas-Washougal Soccer Academy and Vancouver United Soccer Association) teams and sometimes Academy teams at U12 and above.

The teams playing against the TOPSoccer teams get to meet the kids and adults they see at school and around the community in addition, the CW Kickers are allowed the opportunity to compete.
